Class Description:

This is a rigorous high school course that meets the learning outcomes of French 1. This section is only open to students who have a small amount of previous experience in French. Please contact us for placement guidelines before registering.

Due to meeting twice weekly and entering the course with some previous experience, we are able to keep the independent work to about 1.5 hours per week. Topics include describing self and others, family, home, and community, meals, and music. To support confident and clear communication skills, explicit grammar instruction is provided for present tense verbs, adjective agreement, and more. Students also see and use grammar in context, through examples and activities that make the language understandable and meaningful.
